Dan Bastian, Co-Owner and Amputee

Nobody knows more about that physical and emotional roller-coaster ride than Dan Bastian, Progressive O&P’s co-founder, vice-president and certified prosthetist. Dan is an above-the-knee amputee who has worn a prosthetic leg since 1989.

In 1980, Dan was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma in his right leg and underwent many (unsuccessful) reconstructive surgeries to repair the damaged bone and musculature. He made the difficult decision to have his right leg amputated in 1989, and has walked with a prosthesis ever since.

Because of this, Dan has unique insight as to the challenging questions faced by new amputees. Questions like: “Will I ever walk like I used to?” “Will I work again?” “How will my amputation affect my family relationships?

Dan understands these issues because he has lived them. He understands what you’re going through because he’s been there… the multiple surgeries, the life-altering decisions, and the transitional road back to a normal and productive life.  Each day, he taps into that experience to help encourage and rebuild the lives of his patients.

If you are facing amputation and have concerns or questions, please call to schedule an appointment to consult with Dan and learn about the prosthetic options available to you.
