Patient Videos
Our patient stories include adults, children, and athletes from Long Island, New York and beyond, wearing upper or lower limb prosthetics. Many feature the latest in microprocessor knee, foot and ankle technology.
Ellie Challis had to have both of her legs amputated below the knee and her arms amputated below the elbow after contracting meningitis at 16 months old. Living as an amputee, she faced other peoples' assumptions on what she could and could not do, such as swim.
Challis showed the world what she was made of when she won a bronze medal for the 50m backstroke at the 2019 World Championships in London. Now she is looking forward to competing at her first Paralympic games! (Via BBC)
